i shall go mad
Um, turns out we're leaving tomorrow morning at the crack of dawn. I may not survive. If I don't, watch Batman and Supernatural in my memory, and um. Eat pie.

I should be back on Tuesday, but if we get stuck shopping, I'll be back late enough that it'll practically be Wednesday. This time, we're prepared with the car entertainment, though. :) I have Space Mutiny, Spinal Tap, Supernatural, Firefly, Holy Grail, AND Empire Strikes Back. Also, my brother is bringing my Xbox and Gladius. Which means I'll be complaining about how his strategies are stupid, and he always gets us killed. :D Ah, the joy of siblinghood.

So, yeah. Since I won't be back til late, and my picture for [info]mindykim is only in the preliminary sketch stage, I can't promise I'll have it done by the deadline next week. I'm really sorry about that, and I will try to have it finished as soon as I possibly can.

For now, it's off to sleep because if I have any less than seven hours tonight, I'll probably kill someone tomorrow. I won't have internet, but I might have my phone if anyone needs me for dire Wall-E fangirling, or to discuss the merits of fake rockumentaries.

In closing, I leave you with my favorite Monty Python sketch of all time (or at least until I rewatch the Spanish Inquisition), Silly Disturbances.
7th-Jun-2008 12:31 am - My brother is pretty much adorable.

He came up and asked if we could watch Supernatural today. Heh... He occasionally watches if he sees hilarity or Henricksen, but he's never seen the end of Bad Day at Black Rock, so I taped it for him last night. Of course, I also had Ghostfacers downloaded to my computer in anticipation of tomorrow night's marshmallow/Belmont festivities, so we watched that one, too.

He admitted he really likes the show, but that I wasn't allowed to tell his friends because "it's a girl show". XD Don't tell the CW Execs. :P I'm going to show him Folsom Prison Blues next time he's bored. It's the only Henricksen one he hasn't seen. I may also show him Houses of the Holy because I am biased terribly. *cough*

Anyways, yes. :) Tonight I bring you sketchery and links to all sorts of entertaining things. :D But first things first.

A slight warning on the er... graphic-ish? nature of this pic. It's not that bad imho, but one can never be too careful. )

I've also accumulated a few links of interest over the past few days, and have decided to share them with the world. :)

Videos and music, ahoy! )

Alright. I'm back to learning Metallica songs on my ukulele, and practically inhaling Tootsie Rolls. Those things are more addictive than they have a right to be.

Mental note for the future: Apparently when my father says "We'll go out for dinner after your brother's game", what he really means is there's no food in the house, he took the only car, and he'll be back in 5 hours so have fun. *headdesks repeatedly*

My mom is only going to be gone for 3 days, but they're going to be three days of "Sara, why aren't you smiling NO SERIOUSLY WHY ARE YOU IN A BAD MOOD I'M BUYING YOU FOOD JUST LIKE I PROMISED".

I'm going to [info]randomfangirl29's house tomorrow, though. We will watch "So You Think You Can Dance" and "Bad Day at Black Rock" and drink Mountain Dew. It is going to be glorious. :D
10th-May-2008 12:02 am - I apologize for the randomosity of my iTunes. *cough*
ROCK!
Today, my dad finally started up his iPod... The one he bought last August along with my laptop. So this has been quite a long time in the coming. Anyway, he has a lot of Kansas, and sang all high-pitched along with Boston in the car, and I'm totally stealing his CDs. And driving everywhere with him from now on. Seriously. Most amazingly hilarious and entertaining and awesome and awesome thing ever.

Also, I got paid today. :D And then promptly spent half my paycheck on a wig, hair dye, and socks. Hopefully I've gotten all of that out of my system.

I still have a crack theory in me from last night's episode (and oh boy, is it huge, over-arching, and CRACK), but I just don't have the focus to sit down and type it all out. But it's so awesome. Or at least it seems like it to me right now in my half-asleep, sort-of-dazed mindset. Totally awesome. Yeah. *cough*

In other news, I was tagged to do a meme )

I've been getting all my internet crap taken care of during class this morning; I don't know what that says about me. The part where I consider some parts of the internet to be work or the part where I'm using my boring classes to do it. Anyways, at least this one is mildly entertaining. :) I think I may be the only person in the known universe who likes the teacher, but he's hilarious and awesome. Also, there are lolcats. Yeah. My Political Science class is influenced, however distantly, by 4chan. Don't think I don't understand the gravity/seriousness of what that says about the state of my education.

Speaking of things one generally doesn't expect their classes to be influenced by, why don't we move to the subject of Supernatural. Oh, you heard me. I was cramming on my reading for History class yesterday, as I always do during the 45 minute break between my lecture and discussion section, when I got to the last reading. The Malleus Maleficarum. I laughed out loud in a room full of people, and am now certainly seen as quite mad by my classmates.

The fact that Spring Break is next week is also helping my currently jovial mood. <3

Other activities I've done this morning include moderating/combating copyright claims on the Supernatural DeviantArt club, figuring out how to work my archaic version of Excel, and downloading a Ruby mood theme from [info]marishna. I'm not sure how long I'll keep it around, but I was getting a bit of a headache from my previous animated one. It sounded fun, but yeah. I don't know. I really liked the "Working" one for that with the FBI badges. Course, for Ruby working appears to be akin to demon-killing. That's something I can totally get behind. :)

Tonight is dinner with the family and a discussion with my brother about "Red vs. Blue" (which I've just started watching, currently 45 minutes into the third season; romg, hilarity) in front of our Grandparents. I'm thinking it'll be interesting, at the very least.

So... I'm done. :) I finished my jumpback sometime last night, and put the final titlecard in about 2 hours ago. Then I showed it to my parents--the ultimate test of movie-awesomeness. My dad because he can spot cheese and understands all the technical crap, and my mom because she knows what she likes and she doesn't understand any of the technical crap. <3 They've never failed me before, and my mom said I could totally blame it all on her when if I lose, so... \o/

Watch my epic masterpiece! )

That concludes tonight's narcissism. Thank you, and goodnight. <3

Question of the Day:

Do you think that playing "Iron Man" on my ukulele counteracts any negative effects I could receive from watching Girlicous?

**It's my roommate's fault. She finds cracky TV, and then we somehow become unable to change the channel. Truly. Oh wow this show is abysmal. Good luck with that, CW.

I'm currently working on about 15 different songs on my ukulele; I learned the riffs to "Hells Bells" and a bunch of other awesome songs and I will play them as we make pie for Supernatural. Oh, Mr. Kripke. You may have been joking about a fandom-wide bake sale to raise your special effects budget, but my roommate and I want to make pie to fund you. :)

In other news, tonight was a good night. My purple rainboots and new socks came in, my mom made beef stroganoff, and my brother watched Mythbusters with me. Good times. <3

Now to finish it all off with an eclipse. Should be good times, running out into the cold for a little while just to see the red moon. But it's supposed to be pretty, so... yay! :D
16th-Feb-2008 12:53 am - Upon Further Review...

So, I promised [info]randomfangirl29 that I'd watch Mystery Spot again. I went home a day earlier than I had planned because I'm just so... drained from this week[1]. Ugh. So yeah. I went window shopping with my mom for a bit, then re-watched the episode.

Now, because I was watching it in the afternoon, my mom was in the living room with me. This always gives me the heebies because I make terrible fun of my mother's choice in TV shows, and she generally never misses an opportunity to snipe at some part of Supernatural. Except for Dean. She calls him the good-looking one. XD She always manages to walk in at the most inopportune episode moments, and it always seems to be during Nightshifter[2]. I'm pretty sure I watch that episode too much, but I digress.

I was worried she'd tell me how stupid the show was and thus I wouldn't get the chance to properly reevaluate it[3], and all would be storm clouds and sadness.

But that was not to be. Somewhere around the title-card my Dad walks in and gets comfy as well. Fun, double-awkward time. Except for the part where it totally wasn't--it was complete and total awesome. I had to tell my dad about 5 times that this was the "Groundhog Day" episode[4], and my mom kept giving me weird looks and saying things like "So, why did you hate this?" It was awesome. My dad loved the scene where Sam accidentally kills Dean with an axe, and the montage of Dean-deaths. He kept saying things like "This show is really funny and original and imaginative," and I kept squeeing. In fact, I believe I squeed to Supernatural along with my father. Yeah. It was eerie.

Then my mom left right before the Trickster shows up to pick Nick up from baseball. I continued squeeing with my Dad. For the record, I like the fact that it was the Trickster, I'm just entirely confused as to what his motives/purpose was. But this being Supernatural, we'll probably find out. I hope.

I told my dad about Tall Tales and how this show is fantastic at mixing its humor and angst and all about the random intricate plot details and subtlety and Kripke. And I'm thinking I'm going to show him Tall Tales[5]. I really am. Whether he likes it or not. x) He didn't like the veer off into Crazy!Sam angsty land, but hey. That's disorienting for someone who doesn't know what's going on, come on! :P

All in all, it was a delightful time. But it wasn't over yet. x)

My mom came home with my brother, and asked me to tell her what happened in the end. Yes. My mother. Watcher of Dr. Phil and The Real Housewives of Orange County and general mocker of all things SciFi or Fantasy took a genuine interest in Supernatural. Sure, it was short-lived, but... it was funny. :) I'm hoping next week is equally as impressive so I can boast about my show to them again. It's cool to be able to tell them "Yeah, these are the guys I went to see in Chicago in November; they're really awesome and hilarious," and have them understand what I'm talking about. Supernatural is a part of my life they've never been involved in and this is starting to sound really stupid even to me[6], but... I liked watching it with them. Actually, I love watching that show with anyone who hasn't seen it before. It's ridiculously fun to watch them get addicted. XD

And hey. I'm not holding out much hope, but... My dad's been all cranky about 24 not coming back until 2009, and I have season 1 on DVD. My laugh is an evil one. <3

Footnotes:
1) Read: I had a two tests and a paper and I never want to write anything or think ever again, the end.
2) My Mom: "What are you watching?" *gives disapproving look*
Me: "Um, Supernatural...? Look! There are pretty boys!"
My Mom: "Er... The one of them is good-looking..." *makes a O.o face*
Me: "OH DON'T YOU BE DISSIN' RONALD."
3) Because, come on; the majority of fandom disagreed with me, of course I'm going to give it a second chance.
4) Actually, one time this line coincided with Dean's. Good times.
5) Though I'm wondering if he wouldn't like Bad Day at Black Rock better; my brother actually kinda wants to see that one, too. XD Elizabeth, will you bring that with you on Pie-day? <3
6) Sorry about my schmoop; I just enjoyed bonding with my parents over something that wasn't technology or shopping. WHOO. :)

I'm at the pizza place my family usually goes to just about every night of the week. Honestly. We're in a rut. And have problems?

So anyways. The other day I was downloading Metallica songs (something that I find ironically fun and delightful), and I accidentally got some covers... some like... Banjo covers. They're fantastic, and hick-ish, and... if you've never heard Ride the Lightning in that fashion, your life is truly lacking.

So this weekend, we had Rock Band in our dorm room, and we rocked. We rocked so loud, and so hard, that people actually came into the room to check on us. I guess when I sing Radiohead, I sound like a dying cat. Or something. Regardless, my voice is manlier than Thom Yorke's; whether it's good or bad, who knows. :)

I have to write a paper on Oedipus this week, and finish reading Al Gore's "The Assault on Reason". Pretty much, I love college. :)

Tomorrow, Dayna's birthday lunch at Malone's, and Monday, CLOVERFIELD. So no spoilers. I'm already surrounded by people who've seen it as it is. :P
